There’s something about a winter weekend that feels extra special when you’re all bundled up together. This past weekend, we packed up the kids, loaded the car and headed out for a family ski trip — and it was exactly the reset we needed.

The kids are at the ages where they are more independent on the slopes which creates a more carefree weekend. There were moments of pure joy, lots of laughter, and yes… a few cold fingers and snack breaks in between. But honestly, that’s part of the fun. Watching your kids gain confidence, cheering each other on, and ending the day with rosy cheeks is something I’ll never take for granted.

One thing that truly made the weekend smoother? Good cold-weather gear. When everyone is warm and comfortable, everything else just feels easier. Quality coats, snow pants that actually stay dry, and gloves that don’t soak through halfway down the slope are worth it. It meant fewer meltdowns, longer ski days, and more time focused on making memories instead of warming up indoors every ten minutes.

And because life doesn’t stop (even when you’re skiing 😉), I was proud of myself for getting ahead of the game before we left. I already ordered the kids’ classroom Valentines, and it felt so good to check that off the list early.

If you’re looking for simple Valentine ideas that kids love, here are a few easy wins:

• Play-Doh or slime Valentines (always a hit)

• Mini puzzles or card games with a cute tag

• Stickers or temporary tattoos for non-candy options

• Classic cards paired with a small treat like pretzels or gummies

If you are ready to browse, I've linked a few favorites here. Nothing fancy — just thoughtful, fun, and stress-free. I’ll be holding onto these snowy memories for a while — and feeling very accomplished knowing Valentine’s Day is already handled.

Here’s to more moments like this 🤍
